Satyrs, 2023-01-19

This puzzle was originally released in 2011, but I missed it then. Six years later I managed to find a copy on Amazon. That makes this #23 in the puzzle challenge I’m doing, “a puzzle long searched for”. They probably didn’t make many if these, it seems to be quite rare.

Satyrs by Giuseppe Calligaro, Heye, 1000 pieces. Completed on January 19, 2023.

Satyrs are creatures in Greek mythology. They were companions of Dionysus, and the image here is of a big party.

The band:

There’s not only a black sheep, but also a wolf in sheep’s clothing:

Those are stamps, right? Not sure why a satyr would think stamps are the key to seduction, but then they weren’t very smart šŸ™‚

  1. P.S. This is random. I can’t remember where on your site we were discussing the (expensive) boozy-themed jigsaw puzzles by the company Water and Wines. I was browsing puzzles online the other day and stumbled upon this (much more reasonably priced) whisky puzzle, it’s made by Ginger Fox. They have a UK and USA website. Not that I should be enabling you to buy puzzles but I thought I’d share the link with you. 🄃🧩😊

    • Thank you! It’s also possible to order it through amazon.de (no hazzle with taxes and import duties), so I put it on my wishlist. I already have two gin-related puzzles…

      • Question: You mentioned you could order the puzzle from Amazon.de I didn’t visit the Amazon.de site but I’m curious who the seller/shipper is. I was browsing Amazon USA and came upon a Ravensburger puzzle (that dog unicorn one, that particular puzzle image is not available in North America) was being shipped and sold from Amazon Global Store UK. I clicked the store link to read more and the text also said Amazon USA shoppers wouldn’t have to worry about taxes and import duties. Is that who is selling the whisky Ginger Fox puzzle on Amazon.de?

With a name like Amazon Global Store UK, I didn’t know if that mean the Amazon UK site or if third party sellers on Amazon UK get a notice and can decide whether they want to take the sale?

      • I’m not sure how that works. For this puzzle, the seller is listed as Maia Gifts, and there’s an address in Glasgow, Scotland. Definitely third party.

      • I did some more reading and discovered that it is affiliates (or third parties) who make up the Amazon Global Store UK.

Also, I had this reddit post bookmarked for awhile and the OP recently updated it and added a bunch of links for 2023 puzzle catalogs. Thought you might be interested 😊🧩
