Exit / Escape Puzzle SPOILERS

On this page there are spoilers for the Ravensbuger Exit / Escape (I think it’s Exit in German-speaking areas and Escape in English speaking areas) series that are valid for the entire series. Photos of finished puzzles and discussion of solutions can be found on the dedicated spoiler page for some of the puzzles. See links below.

The spoilers on this page are hidden with an HTML-element called details, but this only works in certain browsers, like Chrome and Firefox, but NOT in Explorer or Edge. Opera and Safari should be OK, but I’ve not tested them. There are no details-tags on the pages for individual puzzles.

Some points that apply to all puzzles in the series (will update if I find later puzzles work differently):

  1. The box should contain a booklet with instructions and an envelope with the final solution. If you bought the puzzle used and some of this is missing, contact me and I’ll send photos. Please always include the name of the puzzle when asking for photos.
  2. Do NOT try to do the edges first. Do the edges last, and even then pay close attention.
    Click to find out why

The reason for this is that the final solution of the puzzle requires you to identify certain edge pieces and put them together to form something new, and that means that the pieces are designed to be put together in two ways. It also seems to mean that edge pieces fit pretty much anywhere.

  3. After you’ve completed the jigsaw puzzle, it’s time to look for puzzles in the image. There are 6-8 puzzles to find, and the answer is always a number.
Click to find out what the numbers refer to:

The numbers refer to edge pieces, which have the corresponding numbers.

  4. Among the puzzle pieces, there are small, rectangular pieces of puzzle cardboard that are not part of the puzzle.

LINKS TO THE SPOILER PAGES FOR INDIVIDUAL PUZZLES:

Some newer Exit / Escape puzzles have 368 pieces instead of 759. They work exactly the same as the 759-piece puzzles, and the finished puzzles are just as big – only the pieces are twice as large. I have to say, I prefer the 759-piece ones, more jigsaw puzzle and less math.  I won’t be providing invidual spoiler pages for these 368-piece puzzles, but I can still send photos of the instructions and solution envelopes for the following puzzles:

Greenhouse / Gewächshaus

From a comment on this post I learned that there are two versions of this puzzle, and in at lest some cases Ravensburger has gotten them mixed up, so that not all of the solution pieces are present in the puzzle. If you happen to get one like this, please contact Ravensburger, I’m sure they’ll provide you with a replacement.

Amusement Park Plight / Im Freizeitpark

The English version provides a different backstory compared to the other language versions.

  1. Hi for the life of me I can’t solve the number 1 problem in the observatory. I read the solution but can’t work out how to get the answer from the letters/numbers. Can you share the workings? Thanks!

  2. Hi , I can’t solve the number 1 problem in the observatory. I read the solution but can’t work out how to get the answer from the letters/numbers. I haven’t found or determined an equation to be solved. I see that I am not the only one with this problem. I was able to figure out the rest, once I had the solutions…working backwards. Thanks for your help.

  4. I bought the Submarine Escape Puzzle used a few months ago and just realized today when we were going to try it that it was supposed to have a book and envelope. Would you happen to have photos of these items? I scoured the internet trying to find copies with no luck. Thanks!

  5. Your page was crucial to enjoying these puzzles …. it’s one thing to get the numbers and the pieces, but a separate step to then figure out how they address the question! Thank you. Now I just wish Ravensburger didn’t make these puzzles so *dark* (especially dragon and observatory) – they are really hard to put together at night with so many dim, gray, dark pieces. They look much more vibrant on line. Would be so easy just to colour correct and print them brighter.
Thanks again so much for compiling your site!

    • Thank you for your kind words, I’m glad my site has been useful! I agree that some of these puzzles are unnecessarily dark, it makes them much more difficult. Just a few days ago I was thinking that I would like to do more horror-themed puzzles, but most of them are so dark.

  7. Great job on this web site and good work with the solutions. I just finished assembling the Dragon Laboratory Escape Puzzle (which came in the Space Observatory box! – oops at Ravenburger). Unfortunately, the enclosed booklet and solution envelope aren’t for the Dragon Laboratory. If you are able to send me an electronic copy of those two items it would be a huge help – thanks in advance. BTW, the Ravensburger web site no longer mentions the Dragon Laboratory puzzle at all – good thing you already have so many of the set.

    • Thank you, and I sent you an email! Ravensburger seems to have messed up quite a lot with this series, but if you contact them, you may get some compensation.

      • Hi Nicola,

Thank you for sending the documentation. Exactly what I was looking for! I won’t be bothering to harass Ravenburger for the oversight. As usual, they make beautiful puzzles, and with your help, have a happy customer/puzzler. Maybe they should have you on contract, though! Thanks again – Bob

  11. Observatory puzzle solution No. 6: Is that 23 books that I have to pick out in some kind of order? The images are blurry and some books are on their side. Different shelves? Am I looking at pairs of books? Where does # symbol come into play on last sequence? i see upper and lower triple lines on globe that’s as far as I get.

  13. The 368 piece puzzles aren’t new, they are the kids’ series. I think it even says so in a corner (don’t have one to confirm). So I hope we’ll be seeing more in the 769 series.

    • I hope for more 759 piece puzzles as well. Some of the 368 puzzles were clearly for young children and had tamer backstories. I had a look at the Laboratory, and it says 12+ on the box. Pretty ridiculous is you ask me, a 12 year old woluld be perfectly capable of putting together 759-piece puzzles.

  16. Although brand new and sealed, my puzzle box did not contain the sealed envelope with the solution. Mine is the toy factory puzzle. Could you send me a picture of what is in that envelope? I have my six pieces from the mini puzzles but now I don’t know what to do with them. They sort of fit together but not really
