It’s been a while since I did a Heye cartoon image, and this turned out to be great fun. I’ve only done one by these artists before, and while I didn’t enjoy that one much, but I’ve now confirmed that it was just the wrong time for that puzzle, because this is very similar, and I loved it. This time, the city is, of course, Venice.

I think the ensemble is not yet complete, because I found four musicians on their way to the bridge in the puzzle:

“No to big ships” – Large cruise ships are indeed now banned from entering Venice.

This kind of image can sometimes be more difficult than it seems, but that wasn’t the case here. This was fun, and relatively easy. I bought this used, but it was in excellent condition and complete.

An installment in the Ravensburger Apartment Envy-series. This was fun and came together really fast. While van life is not for me (I like the comforts of home far too much), but I have a friend who loves it.

A puzzle full of stuff from Agatha Christie’s life and books. I recognized a lot of things, and there was a key to the rest on the back of the poster.

Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot.

While I loved the image, I’m afraid I can’t say the same about the quality. It was no surprise, I’ve done another puzzle in the series, and this was much the same, although I had more false fits than last time (because of the busy image, I think, the quality is the same). The cut was also the same, with only the basic piece shape, except for two pieces:

I don’t think I’ll get any more of these (they are expensive as well), but I might weaken if they do one with Stephen King…

This puzzle was just as much fun as it looks like, I loved it! I think this is my first by artist Nathaniel Mortensen, but I hope to see more from him.

This was another puzzle in the series “What was I thinking?”. Somehow, I only realized that this will probably be quite hard when I pulled it out to do it, all that white and brown. I’m not sure if these are real, or if there’s been some photoshopping involved, but they look amazing. I especially like the skyline (not sure of what city).

I don’t have much to say about this puzzle, except that pit was very entertaining and relaxing. Pretty easy, of course.

Today, I’m heading out for a trip to Freiburg and Zürich, and I will be out of touch for a while, although there will be one more (scheduled) post tomorrow. Puzzling will resume sometime next week in Dortmund 🙂

Not my usual type of image, but somehow, I like this. I first saw it as an Educa puzzle, but passed on that, because Educa’s cut is so ambiguous, but then I found it as an Art Puzzle (a Turkish brand) and got it. Unfortunately, it turned out to have only the basic piece shape with two tabs opposite (except for two pieces, there was one with three tabs, and one with one tab ). I went back and looked at the previous three puzzles of the same brand that I’ve done, but they all had a good mix of piece shapes, like I thought. I’m not saying I’ll never get another Art Puzzle, but I’ll be thinking long and hard before I do. There’s one still in my to-do pile, but I bought it several years before this one, so that’s probably ok.

Fortunately, this turned out to be much easier than expected, and it was quite enjoyable, despite the boring cut.

The Shell Collector, 2023-09-09

This was one of those puzzles that has a sort of flow to it, where you never have to stop to think what you should do next. I worked this from top to bottom, starting with the sky, then the vegetation, then water, beach, and finally the shells and man-made objects i the foreground. Loved it!

There’s a recycling center near the library where I work, and they rarely have puzzles, but occasionally, I find some treasure like this. It’s a vintage Schmidt, maybe from the 70s, with large and very sturdy pieces. I also think it’s the first western-themed puzzle I’ve ever done. Three pieces missing, but I don’t mind, this was a blast.
