Le Mont Saint-Michel, 2021-09-26 & 2021-10-03

I finally managed to finish the second Le Mont Saint-Michel. It wasn’t difficult, but it took a lot longer than I expected because I got a bit bored doing the same image twice in a row.

The second puzzle had all the pieces, in fact, there was an extra:

It looks like a Ravensburger.

This time, the whole cut was different, as you can see:

Even the basic piece shapes are completely different, and there are small variations in colour tone. There was no difference in quality, though, unlike last time.

I decided to do the same puzzle twice as my next project. I have two copies of this puzzle, because I had already bought one when I got another in a lot with other puzzles:

I’ve done the same thing once before, will be interesting to see if I have the same experience.

I was a bit worried that I would find the image too dark, but it turned out to be a really nice puzzle.

I did it mostly from the bottom up.

I finished the first puzzle, and it turned out to have one piece missing, the top left corner.

Classic Romance, 2021-08-26

So, I was feeling pretty good about the quality of Grafika, but then I did this Clementoni right after Fish Magic, and I have to say, as soon as poured out the pieces, I remembered what true quality feels like. Grafika is all right, but not really top notch.

Movie poster collages may be my most favourite type of puzzle, and I knew this would go very fast (it’s only 500 pieces), so I did it without using the image on the box to prolong the pleasure. It was still pretty fast 🙂

Classic Romance, Clementoni, 500 pieces. Completed on August 26, 2021.

I counted posters for 34 movies (some movies have two posters), and I’ve seen about a third of them. Some of them don’t quite fit the title, especially North by Northwest & Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Venetian Lagoon, 2021-06-30

Well this was fun and easy! I sat down basically just to spread out the pieces and intended to continue the following day, but then I put a few pieces together and couldn’t stop. I never time myself puzzling, but this was definitely under two hours, perhaps even 90 minutes. Loved it!

The Oarsmen’s Breakfast, 2021-04-24

Funny how it all looks so clear when you’re finished, but this was quite difficult, actually. Still, it’s a lovely painting, and I enjoy doing fine art every now and then, even if it’s not easy. The painting is from about 1880, and it’s often called Luncheon of the Boating Party, but it says The Oarsmen’s Breakfast on the box. The breakfast / lunch looks largely liquid, with some fruit thrown in.

Old Map, 2021-01-10

This puzzle has a thin layer of cork on top of the cardboard. I certainly preferred this to the “wood-effect”, but it doesn’t age well. You can see some white dots on the puzzle where the cork layer has been worn away. I bought it used, so I don’t know how many times this has been completed, but the cork layer seems really fragile. Clementoni probably also decided that cork wasn’t a good idea, because I can’t remember seeing any other puzzles like this.
