Panorama of a stand with supporters. Sorry about the horrible glare. This wasn’t really that enjoyable, the image was too busy, and somehow I didn’t like the style.

I loved this! There is just the right amount of cartoon antics, but the image is not too busy.

Argentinian artist Guillermo Mordillo died during the weekend, aged 86. Mordillo and Loup were the first cartoon artist to feature on Heye puzzles in the ’70s, and many of their images are still in production today. The very first Heye puzzle I ever did was a Mordillo, called Mordillo City. Thanks for all the puzzles, Mordillo! Below is a post I had already written up earlier.

A Mordillo jungle image, easier than most Mordillos. Managed to lose one piece, maybe because of my cat guests 🙂

I had some help with this one. While my lifestyle is not compatible with having pets, I sometimes get to babysit the cats of my brother’s family 🙂

My favourite Loup puzzle so far – although I haven’t yet done the Castle of Horror, I’m expecting some stiff competition from that one 🙂 As you can see, I couldn’t be bothered to connect the two halves properly. Now that I have proper puzzling tables both in Dortmund and in Helsinki this isn’t a problem anymore, but I used to do all my puzzling on sheets of cardboard.

A fun puzzle, but quite challenging as well. I prefer my cartoon puzzles a bit less busy 🙂 Sorry about the glare, all my photos of this puzzle are horrible!

Hilarious image by Marino Degano of a dog and the fleas who live on him. My favourite is the tourist bus bringing more fleas for a vacation. There’s also a reference to German football: the dog is wearing the logo of Hamburg based team St. Pauli, and the skull and crossbones on the scarf are also a reference to St. Pauli, as they are known to fly the Jolly Roger. Marino Degano was born in Italy, but he grew up in Germany, and he now lives in Strasbourg (France) and Hamburg.

Also known as as That’s Life! Part II. Another entertaining Degano puzzle, unfortunately my photos aren’t good enough for close-ups. I actually had Part I as well (there are just the two parts), called The Labyrinth, but for reasons I am no longer able to understand I let it go. Oh well.

This is definitely something different, but I’m afraid I didn’t find it that enjoyable, I don’t know why.

Optical illusion puzzle, where a sitting woman also forms a skull. In the background, there is bread that looks like skulls. There was a lot of dark in this, it was pretty difficult.

A puzzle from Heye’s Alchemy Gothic series. Unfortunately, I haven’t made a note of the artist, and I don’t have the puzzle anymore. Usually, this type of puzzle has too much dark colours for me, but this was all right. Not the easiest, but not terribly hard either. And I love the image 🙂 Too bad I didn’t keep it, actually.
