Orchid Estate, 2023-09-30

This is one of four puzzles in a series called June’s Journey. I liked the look of all four puzzles and bought them immediately, and then I found out that June’s Journey is actually a hidden objects type game for mobile, with a story set in the 20s. I tried the game, it seemed nice, but it needs a bigger screen than the phone that I used had.

The puzzles also have extra objects that are not on the box image. I feel this is different than for example a Wasgij-puzzle, where just a glance at a finished image will give the game away, whereas here you would need a photographic memory for it to make any difference, which is why I’m posting the finished image. Please tell me if you feel my thinking is wrong on this.

Anyway, the puzzle was very entertaining, and, of course, of excellent quality.

Tea Time, 2023-09-29

This was my second Enjoy puzzle, and it was again a great experience. Great fit and good mix of piece shapes. This proved very difficult to walk away from, and I did it almost in one sitting.

Tea Time by Carol Wilson, Enjoy, 1000 pieces. Completed on September 29, 2023.

Two of my favourites:

O Sole Mio!, 2023-09-27

It’s been a while since I did a Heye cartoon image, and this turned out to be great fun. I’ve only done one by these artists before, and while I didn’t enjoy that one much, but I’ve now confirmed that it was just the wrong time for that puzzle, because this is very similar, and I loved it. This time, the city is, of course, Venice.

O Sole Mio! by Doro Göbel & Peter Knorr, Heye, 2000 pieces. Completed on September 27, 2023.

There’s a premiere at the cinema:

and a concert at the Rialto bridge:

I think the ensemble is not yet complete, because I found four musicians on their way to the bridge in the puzzle:

“No to big ships” – Large cruise ships are indeed now banned from entering Venice.

Life on the Road, 2023-09-22

An installment in the Ravensburger Apartment Envy-series. This was fun and came together really fast. While van life is not for me (I like the comforts of home far too much), but I have a friend who loves it.

Life on the Road by Jason Taylor, Ravensburger, 1000 pieces. Completed on September 22, 2023.

The World of Agatha Christie, 2023-09-21

A puzzle full of stuff from Agatha Christie’s life and books. I recognized a lot of things, and there was a key to the rest on the back of the poster.

The World of Agatha Christie by Ilya Milstein, Laurence King Publishing, 1000 pieces. Completed on September 21, 2023.

Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot.

While I loved the image, I’m afraid I can’t say the same about the quality. It was no surprise, I’ve done another puzzle in the series, and this was much the same, although I had more false fits than last time (because of the busy image, I think, the quality is the same). The cut was also the same, with only the basic piece shape, except for two pieces:

I don’t think I’ll get any more of these (they are expensive as well), but I might weaken if they do one with Stephen King…

Beautiful Mushrooms, 2023-09-20

This puzzle was just as much fun as it looks like, I loved it! I think this is my first by artist Nathaniel Mortensen, but I hope to see more from him.

Beautiful Mushrooms by Nathaniel Mortensen, Ravensburger, 1000 pieces. Completed on September 20, 2023.

This was the section I did first:

There was even a UFO in one image:

BaristArt, 2023-09-14

This was another puzzle in the series “What was I thinking?”. Somehow, I only realized that this will probably be quite hard when I pulled it out to do it, all that white and brown. I’m not sure if these are real, or if there’s been some photoshopping involved, but they look amazing. I especially like the skyline (not sure of what city).

BaristArt, Cobble Hill, 1000 pieces. Completed on September 14, 2023.

Obviously, I did the background and cups first:

The rest was a lot slower, but I found in entertaining anyway.

Expectance, 2023-09-10

Not my usual type of image, but somehow, I like this. I first saw it as an Educa puzzle, but passed on that, because Educa’s cut is so ambiguous, but then I found it as an Art Puzzle (a Turkish brand) and got it. Unfortunately, it turned out to have only the basic piece shape with two tabs opposite (except for two pieces, there was one with three tabs, and one with one tab ). I went back and looked at the previous three puzzles of the same brand that I’ve done, but they all had a good mix of piece shapes, like I thought. I’m not saying I’ll never get another Art Puzzle, but I’ll be thinking long and hard before I do. There’s one still in my to-do pile, but I bought it several years before this one, so that’s probably ok.

Expectance by Vicente Romero Redondo, Art Puzzle, 1000 pieces. Completed on September 10, 2023.

Fortunately, this turned out to be much easier than expected, and it was quite enjoyable, despite the boring cut.
