Gloomy Carnival, 2022-06-11

This was my first puzzle from the Abandoned series, and I loved it! Some of images look like they may be a bit too dark, but this was perfect. It remained interesting to the end, and was just the right amount of challenging (which is to say, not all that difficult). Great puzzle, and fun idea for a series. I’ve said before that I would love to do more horror themed puzzles, but I find most of them too dark (understandable, of course). This series definitely has a horror vibe, and I can definitely see this a setting for a Stephen King story 🙂

Pac-Man, 2022-04-23

This was fun, and some serious 80’s nostalgia. While this seems to be an arcade version, Pac-Man was also available for home computers (probably the Commodore 64), and while I didn’t play much (that was more my brother’s thing), I can certainly remember the infuriating music (if that’s the right word) that accompanied the game. I’m sure you can find the sound online, but I don’t recommend you go looking for it. I definitely won’t 🙂

Cinderella, 2022-04-19

While the quality was, of course, great, I somehow found this just moderately entertaining, but I’m not exactly sure why. I definitely found the “pixie dust” annoying 🙂 I take my hat off to everyone who completed the 4000-piece version in the 40 000-piece disney collage, that must have been difficult!

NYC Apartment, 2022-04-15

Wonderful puzzle from the Ravensburger Apartment Envy-series. This was every bit as entertaining as I was expecting it to be.

Apartment Envy: NYC Apartment, Ravensburger, 1000 pieces. Completed on April 15, 2022.

Unfortunately, I seem to have lost a piece:

I competed the puzzle within one day, and I didn’t leave my apartment during that time. I did have a good look around, but I couldn’t find the piece.

Chupa Chups, 2022-03-27

This was a lovely puzzle, even though lollipops aren’t really my favourite kind of candy. Vintage ads are always fun!

This one with the old TV is my favourite:

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a vending machine just for lollipops 🙂

The Gardener’s Palette, 2022-03-13

This was lovely, even though I’m no gardener, and couldn’t recognize more than a handful of the plants. I started with the green bits, then yellow, and the rest more or less from light to dark, so that the bottom right corner was last.

I finally remembered to put my mascot in the image – it’s always there, but for some reason, usually missing from the final photos. I still haven’t found a puzzle mascot for Helsinki, but I’m keeping my eyes open.

Days Out: Brighton, 2022-03-05

The fourth and last puzzle in the Days Out series is set in Brighton. I think the green bus is my favourite vehicle in the series 🙂 All of the puzzles were pretty easy, and I finished two of them in one sitting (two sittings, actually, one for each puzzle).

Days Out: Oxford, 2022-03-06

The third of the puzzles in the Days Out set. The round building is the Radcliffe Camera that serves as a reading room to the Bodleian library. I did this in one sitting, it’s very hard to leave these puzzles once you’ve gotten started 🙂

Days Out: York, 2022-03-05

The second in my set of four Ravensburgers is an image of York, with the famous cathedral in the background. The blue vehicle (I hesitate to call it a car) in the foreground looks intriguing, I think it only has three wheels! I also enjoyed the old ads for Polo and KitKat on the bus and on the delivery van. This was even more fun than the first one!

Days Out: Cotswolds, 2022-03-04

This is the first in a set of four Ravensburger 500-piece puzzles. The set belongs to the Happy Days-series, and all four images are of vintage English scenes. I especially like the old cars and buses. I chose to do this first, because it had the most vegetation, and even so, I enjoyed it enormously!
